Cedar Valley’s Seedling production is designed to provide an economical high quality seedling ready for planting in either field or container nurseries. After experimenting with several other liner containers, we have decided to use Rootmaker® propagation trays as our primary method of seedling production.
Rootmaker® propagation cells utilize a series of vertical ribs and horizontal ledges to direct root growth to various air pruning points throughout the cell as well as at the bottom. This air pruning creates a well balanced root system and increases the uptake of inorganic nutrients and water.
We find Rootmaker® seedlings establish faster than bare root material and have a great deal less transplant loss.
Our contract grown greenhouse crops are custom grown especially for our clients. We do not use our own seconds to fill client’s orders. Every order is hand graded to ensure quality and uniformity. We began shipping seedling liners in early June and continue through the growing season by client request. Our liners removed from their trays and placed in plastic bags designed to prevent moisture loss from the root system during shipment. These liners are then boxed in Cedar Valley custom boxes and shipped via FedEx Freight. We also welcome customer pickups at our location.
We take orders for contract grown seedlings from August through January for summer/fall shipping. We will seed source as close as possible to your location at your request. Please order early for best availability.
